About Me!

Greetings, welcome to my reading blog. My name is Ibraheem Baig and I live in Bettendorf Iowa. One thing that is special to me is my 3 brothers that all play the same sports as me. Such as soccer, basketball, and golf. Also during the summertime I love to visit my cousins and grandparents in Pakistan. When we go to Pakistan I love eating all of the different foods and playing different sports, but best of all I love going to the beach, because here in Iowa we don’t have a beach and I love to swim and play around in the water. On the other hand our country has Dick’s Sporting goods and Bass Pro Shop. These two places are so fun to go to, like when I get new cleats or when I go to supply myself for fishing or boating on the Mississippi. Despite all of this fun, one thing that I find myself is that I am a Avid reader. I find myself as an avid reader, because whenever I have free time I most likely pick up a book. This is because one thing I love about books is that they give me a place to go without moving and they show me new perspectives of the world. My reading ability has been heavily influenced by my two favorite teachers, so far. They are Ms. Meuser and Mrs. Hornick, Ms. Meuser always encouraged me to read and try different types of genres which expanded my knowledge of books. But one thing Ms. Meuser didn’t do is what Mrs. Hornick is great at. Mrs. Hornick is great at book talking and finding new selections of books for me to read. Also she and I have great conversations, such as when we talked about the ending of Pony by R.J Palacio. (you should read it by the way it is phenomenal). In addition both of these great teachers helped me set goals for myself such as read 1 book in 2 weeks or finish 3 books in one month. This helped so much, because it gave me my inner motivation and passion to read more and more not just in school, but also at home. Furthermore, one thing that I still have trouble with is finding ia good book for me, such as when I finished Empty Smiles by Katherine Arden I decided to read Nazi in the Waves by Louisa June. I turned out not liking the book too much, because the mood of it wasn’t for me, but I still finished the book anyways. This shows that I still have this struggle to this day of trying to find good books that match the tone/mood that I find enjoyable. One thing I believe about reading is that everyone should be given the chance to read, because some schools don’t even have libraries or even classroom libraries. I believe this because if schools don’t have any libraries or access to books then all kids from young to old won’t be able to view what authors are trying to tell the world. In addition this will limit their perspectives and people of all ages won’t be able to learn about various topics or perspectives. This is why I believe that everybody should have the chance to read because of all of the beneficial advice. Lastly, on this blog I plan to share the books I read, my journey as a reader and how my perspectives change with every book I read.
